Hoy es un día triste para mí porque se sigue un legado que empezó conmigo, pero que lamentablemente no termina ahí. 11 de junio 2001 fue el día que fui condenado a 22 años y 8 meses de prisión. Es un día que tanto ha cambiado para siempre en mi vida y en esta vida de esta lucha.

Pero, en lugar de colapsar bajo el peso de la represión de los estados nos levantamos. Tomó tiempo. Tomó años, pero en realidad en 2004, después de 4 años de prisión, mi grupo de apoyo y yo organizamos el primer día anual internacional de solidaridad conmigo mismo, Jeffrey Luers. Siempre se siente raro en decir eso.

48 ciudades en una docena de países, repartidos en 4 continentes conmemoraron con actividades y acciones de solidaridad, exigiendo mi liberación. Y esos números se sostuvo el año siguiente y el después de eso.

En 2006, el enemigo golpeó nuevamente, y realmente lo que comenzó con la detención de Critter y yo se extendió a las comunidades radicales en todo el país. Al día de hoy el FBI está sigue activamente persiguiendo a lxs eco-saboteadores y activista. Tenemos numerosos compañerxs de nuestro pueblo en la cárcel hoy: Marie Mason , Eric McDavid , Daniel McGowan , Nathan Exile Block , Joyanna Sadie Zacher , Grant Barnes , Michael Skyes, y Steve Murphy, con Briana Waters destino aún desconocido.

Esto marca el 11 de junio como el primer día internacional de Solidaridad con Eric McDavid, Marie Mason, y a largo plazo con todxs nuestrxs presxs políticxs anarquistas. Estamos aquí para honrarlxs, apoyarlxs, recordarles que no se les olvidan, y lo más importante para exigir su liberación.

El 11 de junio es un recordatorio para nosotrxs que si nos pasamos el día fuera de una prisión, muchos de nuestrxs amigxs, compañerxs y afinidades nuestrxs  deben pasar tras las rejas despúes de haber sacrificado la poca libertad, que lucharon por algo más grande que ellxs mismxs. Tenemos una responsabilidad con ellxs y con nosotrxs mismxs, luchar hasta que todxs sean libres.

Yo ya no puedo ser encarcelado, pero no puedo y no descansaré hasta que mis amigxs están de vuelta en sus casa con sus familias y que nuestra lucha por la liberación de la tierra, animal y humana, sea un éxito.

Debemos liberar a nuestrxs presos políticxs y prisionerxs de guerra.

Statement from Jeff ‘Free’ Luers

Today is a sad day for me because I continue a legacy that started with me, but sadly does not end there. June 11th 2001 was the day I was sentenced to 22yrs and 8 months in prison. It is a day that both forever changed my life and the life of this struggle.

But, rather than collapse under the weight of the states repression we rose. It took time. It took years actually but in 2004, after 4 years in prison, my support group and I organized the first annual international day of solidarity with myself, Jeffrey Luers. It always feels weird to say that.

48 cities in a dozen countries spread across 4 continents held solidarity events and actions demanding my release. And those numbers held true the next and the year after that.

In 2006, the hammer really fell and what started with the arrests of Critter and me spread to radical communities across the nation. To this day the FBI is actively hunting down eco-saboteurs and activist both underground and above. We have numerous of our people in prison today: Marie Mason, Eric McDavid, Daniel McGowan, Nathan Exile Block, Joyanna Sadie Zacher, Grant Barnes, Michael Skyes, and Steve Murphy, with Briana Waters fate still unknown.

This June 11th marks the first international day of Solidarity with Eric McDavid, Marie Mason, and all our long-term anarchist political prisoners. We are here to honor them, support them, remind them that they are not forgotten, and most importantly to demand their release.

June 11th is a reminder to us that though we spend our days outside of a prison many of our friends and allies spend theirs behind bars having sacrificed what little freedom they had to fight for something greater than themselves. We have a responsibility to them and to ourselves to struggle and fight until all are free.
I may no longer be imprisoned, but I cannot and will not rest until my friends are back home with their families and our struggle for Earth, Animal, and Human liberation is successful.

We must free our political prisoners and prisoners of war.
